I'll be keeping my 20B, thank you...
Just wanted to make a post to those that care. A short while back, I posted a feeler thread about selling my beloved 20B10AE. It wasn't something I wanted to do, it just seemed that, with my job not paying much of anything along with bills and other problems mounting, I was in a corner.
Luckily, a large number of forum members, most of whom I didn't even know beforehand, sent me supportive PMs and emails trying to bring me back to reality. I sincerely appreciate everyone who did so. Thanks to SirRupertHobo's generosity and practically giving me a starter, I was able to get the car to a point where I was able to diagnose the last of the wiring gremlins that had recently been giving me so much grief. I still have a few small things, but for the most part she lives again, as does my will to remain an active rotorhead.
I've put quite a bit into this car, both time and money, and it is SO close to being what I've always wanted it to be. This feat has come, in no small part, thanks to some very knowledgeable members of this forum. (RETed, BDC and j9fd3s to name but a few...there are MANY others.)
Although I knew of the 20B long before I met him, George Samuels would be the ultimate culprit if I were to point a finger at any one individual to be held responsible for my current engine configuration. George was cruel (errr...KIND?!?) enough to speak with me ad nauseum at VIR a few years ago about the virtues of his conversion. Then he did me the biggest favor. He handed me the keys. That pretty much cemented the idea in my head that, one day, I would also enjoy this Grail of sorts. Thanks, George!
Finally, my beautiful wife deserves a mention. If not for her understanding that sometimes (often), she comes second to my passion for these cars, I would still be puttering around wishing my convertable was a little faster. LOL. Thank you, Joy.
To those who actually read this far, I apologize for the length. I'm just happy that I've made a decision about all of this that I can live with.

Reese, I'm glad everything work'd out and you were able to keep your car, I remember talking to you @ The Gap over dinner and I could tell you a true diehard rotorhead. Hopefully next year when we do the Gap again I will have my car there and we can take each other's for a spin.

John, sounds great! It's true. I simply love these cars/motors. Most of the people around here tell me that I can't possibly give them up, as I've put up with so much already. Heh. Apparently, I have some sort of divine patience or something.
Personally, I think it's the occasional ranting tirade I unleash upon the car when it isn't cooperating that helps!

Nope. Not a Microtech. I'm using a Haltech E11.
One of my wiring issues was the fact that I would intermittently lose my L1 signal. I tried swapping coils, but the same thing happened to any coil I used. Obviously, it was the wiring. I tested for continuity on each wire. No issues there, either. Grrrrr... In conjunction with my financial distress, this was getting to be too much. Keep in mind that this was driving me nuts for a couple of weeks, not just a day or two.
While trying to find the problem, I found out that the ECU end of the connector had partially disintegrated inside! There is a small white plastic peice that separates the individual wires that was simply missing one corner section. Also, there was moisture and corrosion on some of those wires. :Sigh: if it's not one thing, it's another. A call to Haltech got me a new connector, and a little time took care of the corroded wires.
I finally decided to pull the whole harness from the car to unwrap it and see what I could find out. Not a whole lot seemed to be wrong, so I wrapped it back up and put it back in the car. STILL nothing. On a whim, I decided to actually pull on each wire in the coil connector. BINGO! It turns out that one of the clips that is supposed to hold the wire snugly in place was actually bent in half, and it allowed the plug to back out just enough when attached to the coil. The odd thing is that jiggling the connector while the car was running didn't make any difference in whether it worked or not.
Anyway, I redid that wire and...the starter went out. **** IT!! That's when I decided to try to get rid of it. I took it as a sign.
The rest I've already caught you up on, which puts us here.

Heh. In Haltech's defense, the problems I had weren't directly related to anything THEY did. Wiring connectors, etc was done after the sale, and the corrosion, etc was unrelated to them as well.
I've been using Haltech's for about 4 years now, and I'll continue to use them. I've never had any real issues that couldn't be resolved, either by Haltech or by going back and rechecking what I had done myself. (You think anyone at Haltech is reading this? I'd love to be sent an E8 for 'evaluation purposes' since I'm a relatively long-term user. LMAO)

Very glad to see that you kept it. The car looks good, congrats on all your hard work
I gave mine up, it's being shipped to the new owner in Michigan tomorrow. At this point I think the 20b, bride seats and few misc remaining items I kept will be FS as soon as I move into my new house and can clean out the storage shed.
Keep up the good work Reese!!
