I figured i should share how my project is going with the rest of the class

Well some of you may remember that I ran my car n/a last year and I did have my fun with it. I started tearing it apart in december and I slowly started picking away at it. I'm getting close to projects end now. Heres some pictures

turbo specs?

FD3S_wanted 05-21-07 04:36 PM

Are you using the stock NA hood ? Did you have to cut it ? What kind of engine mounts did you use ? Did you have to make custom oil pan or new sub-frame or move the steering rack ?

Looks great. Similar to my car (color and wheels) except for the 20B. I only have the smaller version of the cosmo engine.

Node 05-21-07 06:39 PM

wastegate screamer shooting out the top of your hood? hehe

voodooracing 05-21-07 06:43 PM

Which EFI system are you planning to use?

I'm currently playing around with the VEMS ECU. Hopefully i wont have to many issues getting it up and running with it.

It looks nice...

A little update

-10 to dual -8's. I know its a little extreme for my current goals, but it will give me a lot of room to grow.

Who built your manifold? I need one for the FC!

NOPR 06-03-07 11:08 PM

are you gonna keep the gate open? or put it back into the exhaust? if you put it into the exhaust, i hate you. looks good so far though, the manifold is very sexy.

bcool 06-05-07 01:42 AM

no, it will be atmosphere dump

frass_2k4 06-06-07 08:46 AM

loving this project gaining loads of information
keep it coming

YES!!!!!!!!! open gate is the way to go. subtle when it needs to be, and obnoxious when you want it to be.

diabolical1 06-07-07 08:09 AM

looking pretty damn good.

Whizbang 06-07-07 09:25 AM

how much did the engine set you back?

bcool 08-01-07 03:48 AM

Just got the exhaust finished on it. 4" split into dual 3"

It looks great, keep us posted.

patman 08-01-07 05:24 PM

dude your project is like deja-vu to me.
same wastegate, same style exhaust, same radiator, same coil setup, same intercooler, same fuel rails, etc etc.

that said, looks pretty sweet man! when do you expect to have it up and running? specs on the turbo?

bcool 08-01-07 08:30 PM

Haha, i had no idea our projects were that much alike. Great minds think alike. I expect to have it in one solid mechanical peice here in about 2 weeks. Then its up to wiring. I WILL have this done for Sevenstock X.

Sean325 08-17-07 11:57 PM

Brendan, that's looking quite pretty! Can't wait to take a ride in the finished product around christmas! I BETTER anyway. lol

BASTARD 08-18-07 11:10 AM

looks like a little custom work on the swaybar??? how is it working out for you?

Honestly I didnt have much faith in it but it has been working great for me so far. I just made sure not to apply too much heat to it at one time to temper it as little as possible.

bcool 09-21-07 10:36 PM

I've been working pretty hard on my fuel setup for the last week. Heres the pump that will be going into the stock fuel tank.
http://myweb.cableone.net/mjbless/project/pump1.jpg
http://myweb.cableone.net/mjbless/project/pump2.jpg

I'll try to get pictures with it in the tank tomorrow. All i have left is getting the bracket made for the coils/fuel filter, the fuel rails and it will be just down to wiring.

BLK FC3S 09-22-07 02:16 PM

Looks great so far. Make sure to take your time doing the wiring. Mine is all messy and annoys me.

bcool 09-22-07 02:19 PM

Thats one thing that i like to take my sweet time on. I'm pretty anal when it comes to pretty wiring.

bcool 10-22-07 02:43 PM

Getting so close all i'm missing right now is

1 180* fuel line fitting
1 Working ECU (still trying to work out bugs with mine)

I took my ford injectors to an injector shop and 5 dollars later I have some nice drop in injectors

ur gona want to duct that IC.. i run that same IC mounted the same way on my cosmo re with a koyo rad and everything gets hot... ducting is a must

t-von 10-22-07 09:27 PM

Interesting fuel lines you got there! What are they?

bcool 10-23-07 01:42 AM

It's all push loc hose. Jegs sells the hose. Its all NHRA approved and if you have a local hydraulics shop you can likely find the fittings at a fraction of the price of the anodized ones.

And you wont stab and slash your hands with little stainless hairs from AN lines!

bcool 10-23-07 02:44 AM

^ Thats a huge plus. Also you can complete a connection in about 5 seconds. Easy as pie

thetech 10-24-07 01:27 AM

I used the Aeroquip socketless hose - warning, this stuff is close to impossible to assemble in the -8 size. I have bruised palms to prove it!

bcool 10-29-07 01:58 PM

It Runs! errrr ran

Just a note i but the Jegs push loc hose. I mixed the hoses up when i was purchasing. I meant to buy the Russel twist lok hose. So now I have to replace all my fuel line. Wooo 100 bucks down the drain.

Did you miss my comments about the fuel part in my PM?

bcool 10-30-07 01:45 AM

No, It was funny i primed the fuel system a few days previous. I read your PM and then an hour later I primed it again and there were fuel leaks. I must have misread when i originally bought the line. I should have bought the russel stuff to begin with.

bcool 11-17-07 08:52 PM

It lives once more!:
I'm still having problems with my injector staging so i haven't really gotten into boost yet. I had to stop filming during the drive because there were 2 sheriffs on the side of the road ahead.

BCool very nice build, hope you have sorted out the tuning by now. Haven't seen anyone running VEMS on a rotary, will be nice to hear your experiences with it.

I like it. It's a very open system with pretty much endless options on what you can do and what you can run. To my knowledge theres only 2 of us rotary guys running the system at the moment. The weather hasn't been all that great here so i haven't really been out driving the car much so tuning hasnt really gotten any further.

looks awsome
