How can you tell what year your cosmo engine was made in?

IS there a way to tell without taking off the oil pan and looking at the rear iron?

Some serial number somewhere? The engine is a 13b-re, not 20b if that makes a difference. It is installed in the car so I can't check the rear iron.

the 93+ cosmo rear irons have a nice thick spot that you can tap to install stock fd mounts for mounting the cosmo engine in an fd. 91-92 engines do not.
