How can i tell what series engine I have? Thanks

 

The later series (c and newer) have larger dowel pin castings in the rear plate, fat center plate, and front plate. The castings are identical to the 93-95 FD, while B series and older are like the 89-91 FC castings.

 

There is a stamp on the top of the front iron, drivers side - it will have a three digit number. If there is a letter in front of it, than it is a letter series. If not, than it is pre-A series.

The 89-1/2 to 91 13bt's have the thicker dowell castings too. It is the earlier S4's that are not reinforced.

On my B-series engine, the front side housing has the thicker casting while all the others are not reinforced.

 

Thanks for the info. I'm going to get this 20B powered FD and wanted to mae sure it was a later engine. It was built by pettit like 3 years ago...

it was the motor out of cams personal race car.

i actually bought the bonzai shell that this motor came out of.

and the car that gonzz is buying is my old car. small world!

i have alot of blood sweat and tears in that car so take care of it!

It has never been dynoed.. Never been driven except off a trailer at SS9 and around the block.. Leaving the house now.. when i get back will snap some pics.. I'll be asking alot of questions in the next few weeks. I've always been a 1st gen guy.. Times are changing i guess..lol

 

If it was Cams race engine I bet it was. Bazai edition I think the guy in Davids thread said. Should be quick. Look forward to hearing how the drive was.

 

Yes. the car runs and drives. and yes it is cams engine. He gave me these #s 435 whp @ 6psi and 550 whp @ 15 psi. I havnt dynoed the car but am interested to see if this is correct. Glad that car is local and will stay in touch with gonzz.
