help me get my cosmo up to snuff!
I bought a 20b cosmo last fall. it ended up sitting all winter.
Finally was able to get around to looking at it yesterday. after pulling and cleaning the plugs and cleaning up the starter wiring I got it running.
it has ran somewhat roughly since I purchased it but seems to be worse now. I think it needs new plugs, not just cleaned ones.
OEM plugs are (at least the leadings) BUR5EQ's, these are super hot are they not?
I plan on putting in a manual trans and a full exhaust on the car so it'll actually be somewhat fast since my R32 GTR is going to be parked for the foreseeable future.
So maybe plugs a step colder are wise anyways? What's everyone running for plugs in their cars?
Any 20B cosmo owners on here, do you experience overheating issues or anything driving the car somewhat hard on the street in the summer with the a/c on? Just wondering what else I should do so I don't end up rebuilding a 20b.
Does anyone know what to use for a clutch pedal and driveshaft? I found this: http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Wilwoo...edal,1387.html that I think I can probably use if I can't find what everyone else has done.
Is the stock ECU with no fuel modifications and premium gas capable of handling a full exhaust and 14PSI on premium fuel without blowing up?
Anyone know where I can get ball joints and suspension stuff at? My driver's side ball joint is so loose it's about to fall apart.

Your going to be in the wrong forum for guestions related to a STOCK Cosmo 20b's operation. Since your engine is running rough, I would do a compression check. Old rotary's that sit up for months on end tend to have sticking apex seals. Uneven compression will cause shaking. If that checks out fine then do your tune-up. The rest of your questions could be answered easily at Ausrotary.com.

agreed, lots of stuff to check.
stock FC/fd plugs should be fine, the hotter ones do have part numbers in the FC catalog
i'd also swap the fron thermostat from the 92c one to the 82c. its the same part as the S5/FD
stock ecu probably cant handle 14psi, but getting that much boost out of the stock turbo's isnt going to be easy either

I put 9EQP's in all around since I had them laying around and couldn't find any 7's. I'll just make sure I give it some go pedal now and then so they don't foul.
Thanks for the thermostat tip! I am swapping thermos tomorrow.
it's got fresh oil (rotella baby!), a new napa gold filter, and less exhaust on it now. it's running about 10psi of boost. the bottom end still feels soft to me but once it hits 2500rpm it pulls like a freight train.
I need to get ahold of mazda still and buy some suspension parts, the car is eating tires. Can't beleive I have owned this thing nearly a year and am just getting the time to get it on the road now.
