FD REW front timing cover swap on 20b

Hello, I am looking for more clarification on what parts are needed for a complete swap. I realize the fd timing cover, gasket, bolts, and fd hub with matching pulley.

But my question is more related to the timing gear and which one needs to be used 20b or fd. Regardless i will still check the end float but rather know before hand.

Thanks in advance,
Sammy

Given that your timing gear will only be driving your OMP (if you are running it) then keep your 20b gear, although I doubt they are different.

I just gave it some thought and i wont be using the oil metering pump since im premixing. I assume your right it should be fine with the 20b.

The internal oil pump gears are the same. The only difference is a couple oil pan holes won't line up. Just use a block off plate for the OMP if you don't use it. Leave the gear inside the housing.

When i usually premix I pull the omp small gear out, whats the reason you recommend to keep it still attach to the front cover. Another question for the oil pan holes not matching completely up does this seal fine. I hate leaks....

I havent decided which kit i will be using for the conversion. I know that im going with a turbo 2 transmission and stock fd tail housing. This will push my engine 1/2 " back towards the firewall. I also wont be utilizing the A/C or PS pump since i purchased a side mount alternator kit. Either kit i use will involve some modifying.

I see the exessive kit has slotted brackets so the 1/2" moved back should be possible but not sure the clearance on the oil pan.

Exessive looks to be more appealing to me.

I'm going to be using the xcessive mounts. I'll also be using an FD front cover (with the xcessive series 2 oil pan for the FD front cover).

I havent swapped the covers yet, so I'm interested to see if there's anything sneaky. I'm not using an OMP, so I dont think there will be anything out of the ordinary.

Awesome, do you recommend this kit over defined?

Sounds like were in the same boat, i plan to start a build thread once i purchased more parts for the conversion. Its interesting to see more people heading the same direction.

I've purchased basically all the big ticket items, short of the exhaust manifold. As soon as I can get the block set on the mounts, I'm going to work with Gleaseman to fit the s400sx with a stock mounted motor so he can offer that to those interested.

I've pulled the old 2 rotor, harness and ecu, but unless I make an unplanned trip home, it wont make big headway until September.
