Hey all.
Im just wondering if anyone has put a rotary into a GM car. Think the mazda roadpacer.

My aim is to put a 20B in a Holden WB ute.http://us1.webpublications.com.au/st.../0936_20mg.jpg
I will buying a JC Cosmo front cut as the donor for everything.
I think this option is viable in respect to power.
Here are some comparison specs.
20B Vs 5.0lt/308ci(most common conversion, WB available from the factory with a 4.2lt/253ci) output:
20B output:
Max power 206kW @ 6500rpm
(I belive this is a much disputed figure, some put the power closer to 226kw or a nice even 300hp)
Max torque 402Nm @ 3000rpm
5.0lt/308ci output:
Max power 161 kW @ 4800 rpm
Max torque 400 Nm @ 3100 rpm
Weights are approx the same at around 1600kg (for the WB this weight was for a sedan and not a ute, so it should be a bit lighter anyway) .
The engine size should not be a problem, as i have seen these cars with 454ci engines in them and those suckers are huge.
I would like to keep the twin turbos for the time being as this car wont
be built for pure speed or power and i think it should be possible to obtain some decent numbers with the sequential twins, that and itll be cheaper
.
I will keep the auto trans (cheaper once again, i would like a manual but hey, im not made of money) and mate it to a 9-inch
ford diff (this is a very common conversion on WB's anyway).
So here are my questions:
1) Will i be able to keep the factory ECU?
2)Will i be able to drop the whole engine(turbos, turbo piping etc) straight in, or will i have to move stuff about?
3) Will i be able to use the intercooler and radiator from the front cut or will i have to get custom/aftermarket/other items made?
4) Your question/answer here.
Any ideas, comments, suggestions, info would be appreciated.
Thanks

If you get a complete front clip, use the auto tranny that came with it, and use all of the wiring harness, it will work, but you must use all of it. dynamo, air pump all of it. there is a small computer box that controls the tranny in the left kick panel wihtout it and its attendent wiring the ecu will freak out, same for the wiring that goes to the floor shifter without all of it hooked up and operating the ECU will freak out. there is a vacumm hose that runs to the rear of the car for the exhaust cutouts, make sure you plug it so it won't leak vacumm when the ecu tells it to open, and get a fuel pump that has a high low setup stock one is best to start. after you do all of that and get it running and sorted out, you could get the ecu reburned by re amemiya, or fujita engineering to accept higher boost, etc.
but honestly you will neeed to use the entire wiring harness, best to strip your car of all wiring, and lay the cosmo's wiring, and all electronics out in the holden (Which one mate? a coomodore maybe?) well lots of luck.
