Love the Rad and IC setup, looks great

Darryl C 04-02-13 03:07 AM

Well done on the big effort so far. Love the exhausts out the back. Will look good when they are sending some flames out from up there.

Jimbo II 04-02-13 02:38 PM

Awesome stuff!

I assume the mounting of the exhausts is so you can install a big ass diffuser?

Thanks Darryl, should be entertaining, as the left pipe is slightly longer it should be phased flamage too !! lol

Hi Jimbo, exactly for that very reason, a complete flat floor with big diffuser !! :)

Then started the fabrication for the exhaust covers.

And voila, these are the sides that will be welded down and the cover will be bolted to them when we make them tomorrow.

I've cut a lot of the process out but here was the end result and the almost completed cockpit including the transfer of
the handbrake lever to the other side.

This is one of the most bad ass cars/builds I've ever seen and I read through build threads on all the forums I'm on.

I really wish I had money.

Sicknote 04-05-13 04:44 PM

Thanks very much, it's comments like that that keep my enthusiasm up and want to carry on !! :)

The throttle pedal went on today (no pics as I started feeling ill)

We put the rear stansions and wing on together with the rear lights... starting to look like a car again !!

Only prob is we're not happy with the way the rear wing sits so the stansions will have to be re-made with a more aggressive angle.

This weekend the wiring commenced. :D

Most of this on the floor is being binned, we just strung it all out incase there are any connectors that are required.

Not many pics for a lot of wiring work.. soz.

This is obviously the best way to wire an FD !!! :D

Attachment 674833

This is the hub of the wiring, took plenty of working out and planning.

Attachment 674834

And laid in the car (will be higher and fixed to the bulkhead) together with the battery nicely positioned on the tunnel.

This will keep us busy this weekend, the full MoTeC wiring loom and to the right is the MoTeC rotary switch for 10 boost settings. :)

This is the new lighter and smaller race alternator, would have been MUCH smaller if K-II wasn't going to be
road legal, but this little baby still knocks out 120 amps.

Attachment 674831

Sicknote 04-21-13 10:22 AM

Phase II of the wiring proved to be VERY problematic

The new MoTeC looms don't match up to the older ECU's even though theyre still labeled M600 and M800, thus ALL the pins had to be
taken out of the blocks, tested and re-routed, this took UBBER amounts of time.

Attachment 674829

This was Geoffs re-routing diagram. loooooool !!!

Attachment 674830

Sicknote 04-21-13 10:23 AM

Thanks fella, my aim is to be one of the fastest track FD's in the world and STILL be road legal, a few compromises in the build
to achieve that but not too many !! :)

The external Fire Extinguisher and Kill switches are now installed and ready to be wired in.

Thanks guys, believe it or not the sequential box isn't too bad for the road even with the OS Giken triple plate clutch, but
the only issue might be the heat... gunna be a sauna in there in traffic !!! lol

patman 04-24-13 08:49 PM

Wow, I wish you were doing this a couple years ago when I was in England, I'd have offered some free help just for a ride.

I have to say, yours is shaping up to be my favorite 20B FD, not including mine, of course :)
Keep up the good work!

Maybe by the time you get it done I will find another job in the UK and I can come see it...

Right, sorry for the lack of pics, to be honest not much has happened as I seem to have lost all motivation but
we loaded K-II into the caravan and took her to her new home for the next 2-3 weeks, just went down there to
drop the rear lights only to find they've already started work on her. starting to feel a bit more with it again.

This is a very novel place to install the inside door handle !! lol

Lol, she should be at the body shop for 2 weeks Ryan, I'm taking the exhaust for ceramic coating on Monday and I've sent a few engine bay
bits away for polishing, it's starting to get to the exciting stage now. :)
