that's good news. did you have to upgrade the rear end at all?

i was actually worried about using T2 tranny for 400-500whp range. I suppose that'd be okay with the T2 for daily operation.

I won't be launching the car or using slicks.

Rear end on my RX8 is stock as well. The car is just my daily driver so doesn't really take much abuse.

I'm using the T2 tranny on my 20B racecar. I haven't fired it up yet but will let you know how it goes. Good news is they only cost about $200 to replace so just buy a bunch and hope for the best

wow awesome.

just for the massive amount of torque, we're changing the diff ratio to something with fatter teeth like 3.9 just for a good measure... hopefully it'll hold.

so you don't think i need to change the links, shafts, or the arms? shafts are probably going to be done just for the torque issue.. but i was weary of changing out the links to heim or something harsh like that.

i was thinking of cryotreating the tranny gears until your post. i suppose i can save that money for a new box instead haha

mmmm

me likey...

What are you going to run for an EMS and wil the original dash still function without the inputs from the original Renesis?

EDIT: and that lower intake manifold is absolutely brilliant. Lots of hours on that piece I'll bet.

microtech. it'll just take over the fuel/timing/ignition functions and leave everything else to the stock ecu.

i'm guessing i'll get a check engine light haha

FWIW the tranny is the same as the S2000. My understanding is that the weak link is the synchros, but you probably won't have any issues as you won't be spinning the 20B that high at all.

I say go with it and see what happens

BTW, on the electronics side of things, you should use an RX8 trigger wheel bolted to the 20B front crank pulley, and then mount the stock RX8 crank position sensor and hardwire it to the ECU (I can get you the exact pins later). Doing this will get your stock tach and electric power steering working like stock. You can do the same thing for the water temp sensor as well, although I don't recommend it as the thing is a POS.

You'll have some fun with the fuel system as well due to the returnless saddle-bag fuel tank, but I can give you some tips on that based on my months of trial and error

thetech, think mazsport got all the electronic details covered and hopefully the fuel system as well. i am however wondering about your comment on same tranny as s2k? are you saying i can switch out the rx7 gear assembly with that from the s2k?

Do i have to remove the rx8 powersteering rack to fit a 20b inside,or do i have to cut the lower 20b manifold for the engine to fit perfectly

manifold

Did you make the manifold? I'm also working on a 20B project for an RX-8. I want to build it for road racing. I'm looking for a manifold to fit. Any thoughts.

Thanks

Aldo
