I'm thinking about going to lucky seven and having a 3 rotor na put into my fc vert but I want to know some things before I call them up and not know about what it is that I'm asking them for so here are my questions:

Can the 3 rotor be built and tuned sort of reliably (like a cosmo but with more power)?

What is the life expectancy on a mildly ported 3 rotor na (probably just a decent sized streetport)?

If I don't go catless will I be able to keep it quiet enough for mainly street use (not daily driving)?

What kind of power can I expect from a sort of conservative tune and mild port on it?

Is it going to be much heavier than my stock s5 na engine?

How high will I be able to rev it without ruining the reliability aspect of the build?

Bare in mind this will be a weekend car almost entirely for street usage. Just a fun car for weekend canyon runs and occasional sliding.

Pardon any stupid questions I just want to learn anything I can before I go through with this

Welcome to the world of 20b, like all prospective owners.... I hope you have deep pockets...and a mortgage to suit.

1. yes they can be build and tuned and be reliable- pick only two of the following (fast) (Cheap) (reliable)

2. Ballpark for a well built engine 100,000KM

3. What's the laws and regs in your area? generally speaking yes

4. Ballpark figure for a extend ported 20b 280rwhp

5. 20b with all its factory gear on weights in at about 350kg and your factory engine would be approx. 150kg = approx 200kg difference

6. that will depend on your balancing that I assume you will be getting done, other wise depending on the series of 20b you get.

bear in mind all these figures based on a lot of variables.

Also be weary of inflated HP figures that you maybe given in N/A form.

The above post answered most of your questions pretty well, but Ill chime in. Im not sure how much research you've done on it already, but even without getting too crazy you are looking at a very expensive project. 20Bs are going for $5-6k nowadays from importers and you get an unknown condition engine that would be wise to get rebuilt. So just for the engine itself, you're probably going to be in it close to $8k. Then its ECU, labor to install, custom exhaust at a minimum, etc etc. So, unless its something you just really want to do , a much more cost efficient way to get the same/more power would be a 13Bt swap from a turbo2.

If your going NA, I would contact Logan at Defined Autoworks. They can build you a ported modified/shortened lim with stock uim intake system that will easily push around 350rwhp.
