If there were ever an engine that would benefit from the advantages of being mounted behind the driver, it's the turbocharged rotary. It would probably work very, very well in a transverse-mount setup as well. Simply being able to separate water/oil cooling from intercooling would be a godsend! RE Amemiya's midship three rotor is a prime example.

I agree, but I think the benefits of isolating the cooling system apply to any engine configuration.
A few years ago one of the major car magazines did a McLaren F1 road test in Texas. I remember reading how this million dollar supercar had to be shut down from time to time to avoid overheating in traffic.
Keeping in mind that both the GTR and M12 were designed by British company's (cooler climate) to accept piston engine's (cooler running), putting a turbocharged rotary in either makes me pause. RE putting he IC up front - the duct area up there is really small!!
BTW, I recently discovered it costs ~70k USD to get a fully spec'ed **KIT** (sans engine or gearbox) from Ultima. According to the price sheet I received, the Ultima seats, window motors, A/C system, harnesses, etc are separate from the standard kit they list for ~30k USD on the site. I was pretty shocked!
