NY 20b block power caps?

Hi,

I was just wondering what exactly the power caps were for the stock block's on the different 20b series engines?

Thanks in advanced for any and all responses.

Not enough testing done to find those kind of figures. Just know that the early series engines "A and earlier" had less metal castings around the dowel pins and weaker e-shafts. There's a balance between max power and long term reliability. In the end the engine is equivelant to a 6 cyl piston engine and breaths like a 4.0L and should be treated as such. How much power do you think an engine of that size should make?

There is not much empirical data available here as t-von said, but a few rough figures:

There are several (that I know of) street driven and reliable 3 rotors in the 7-800 whp range.
There are a couple that I have heard of in the 1000 whp range.
The drag race guys claim 1500+, and have the times to prove it, but who knows the reliability.

As far as the weak points of the stock 3 rotor, they are generally centered more around the eccentric shaft than the block. At high RPM and high boost levels, the eccentric shaft can fail due to the combination of torsion and bending from the longer motor. This is the main structural difference between the 13b and 20b.

In my personal opinion, the ultimate power limit of the 20B is relatively untested, because A) They are expensive and hard to replace, and the failure points are in parts that are 20B specific and impossible to replace, and B)Most people that build 3 rotors put them in FC or FD RX7s, which are really not capable of using more power than a medium level 3 rotor makes, so there is very little reason to risk the engine trying for more.

The biggest problem is keeping the motor together. But the biggest problem I hear of is traction. Its had me looking into making the car awd.
