you guys asked for it, here it is....12A turbo intercooled
this car fresh out of ROTARYSHACK
the car is a 79 rx7 , with SE suspension
12A streetport with n/a rotors...
12A turbo /manifold upgraded to 60mm comp, t4 hsg. , stage 5 exhaust wheel... with a 3" v-band downpipe
50 mm. weber turbo prepped , mallory #4309 regulator, msd fuel pump
locked distributor, 2 msd 6al units . msd wires, B10EG spark plugs
85 tranny , stock flywheel , race clutch
spearco intercooler , 2.25" i/c piping
this car comes on boost by 2,500 rpm's and pulls all the way to redline!!!
we will have video of this car in action soon
the car is now going to the bodyshop for the front spoiler, body and paint
p.s. the intercooler did cool the intake air temp alot!!
its boosting 8 psi right now on 91 octane fuel...but we will be adding a boost controller for track or street racing
i wonder how it will run on 20 psi on race gas!!
p.s.s the outside is as stock looking as possible = sleeper

hmmm, it looks soooo clean. It really makes me want to jump into my garage and start working on my own project...
Plans are a streetported 12A for me, if possible with a IC'ed turbo, but that'll depend on what parts I can find...
Any idea how a S4 (FC) turbo could work on a 12A? HP expectations?
Anyway, nice job, and keep posting pics of such projects, even if I live in Europe (making it impossible to buy from you guys, unless I pay huge import taxes) I still can learn a lot from those things...

umm....

me too! too bad my budget is 50 dollars a week
im working on a similar 12A turbo project, the main difference between mine and roberts is that he is pretty much done and I have pretty much just started
robert, did you do anything to the engine internals besides porting - hardened stationary gears, etc. ?

But you have a perfectly good turbo? Have you decided against it already?

) I'll transplant the turbo setup, and use the IC'ed blow through in the Mariah, and the Elford in the 1984 (which will then be for sale). Follow me? No? Don't worry, I useally change plans every second week
Anyway, the engine you sent me is now opened up for a SP rebuild, and looks very clean and good inside! I still have to measure to know for sure, but there's no visible wear of the housings, and all apex and side seals were in one piece. Although I'm not going to re-use the seals, it's good to see that none of them was boken and damaged the housing.
