Yet another exhaust question...

Even though there has been a massive amount of exhausr questions on this board, I stil feel the need too ask all you rotary-smart people a question about it.

Some info about my situation.
I have a leaky exhaust on 1983 GSL, I figure it's 18 years old and well in need of replacement.
I have no need for cats or any of that smog stuff and do not live in an area I get tested in.
I hope too bridgeport or do a large street port on my 12a some time in the summer, and would really like something that would not be a bottle-neck in the future.
I don't mind loud exhausts as long as I won't get pulled over.
I would like a full exhaust, not just headers or a cat-back system
And the kicker..... I have fairly limited funds, about 500 bucks I wouldn't feel too bad about putting into my car. There is an option too save up for about 7 or 8 hundred, but I would really like too avoid it (having a leaky exhaust, and being a poor college student, I'd like too get it on fairly quickly.)
What do you guys think would be a good way too go? My biggest thing is finding something that will flow enough too get good power from a bridge port while not getting pulled over for being too loud, on a fairly limited budget.
Would i be best off saving for the racing beat stret port system, go for their normal exhaust system, throw a bonez racing pipe and new muffler on, try too have something custom built, or something else?

P.S. any recommendations are greatly appreciated, especially if given from someone with a bridge ported daily driver.

Take my advice and get a header to start, pace setter headers suck *** but if your funds are low they work just fine!. I had them on my first 7 but on my new car i got a complete mindtrain stage 5 exhaust from a buddy of mine pretty cheap!. So get a header and take your car to an exhaust shop and have them weld a cat back 2 1/4 pipeback to a cheap muffler. It will still be loud but you will have more power for less $$$$!.

Get a used Racing Beat street port system. I see them every so often on the parts trader and elsewhere. You should be able to pick one up for $400 or so minus the muffler. Then put any non glass pack type on it. That should flow enough for any engine you get in the future. And if you get a 13b you just buy a 13b header and still use it.

Just my $.02

I'm currently thinking about getting the streetable header from Racing Beat, putting on the racing pipe from Bonez, and a powerpulse muffler.

Or just borrowing money and getting the street port exhaust...

Anyone know if the racing pipe from bonez will match up too the Streetable Header offered by Racing Beat? It would save me 50 bucks over Racing Beats Standard Exhaust system.
Would this be open enough for a bridge port, or should I really wait untill I have the funds for a street port exhaust.

81dragrx7colorado, do you know any cheap exhaust shops around Colorado Springs?

P.S. Does anyone know of any cheaper mufflers that still sound fairly nice, but will hold up too a rotary engine? It would be nice if I could shave some of the cash off of a 240 dollar power pulse muffler.

P.P.S. Does anyone know where I can find some product information about mindtrains products? I haven't been able too find anything online.

Do your self a favor, and do what ever you must to get one of the Racing Beat systems. Short primary is good for stock and mild street porting, get the dual primary for large street porting and up.

Any other "custom" setup will eventually result in more money and really big head-aches.

I would not mix and match. RB sells a cat replacement pipe that is the same super high quality as the rest of thier stuff.

Ok, I've finally talked myself into actually coughing up the cash to do it right the first time.... Although I would REALLY like some re-assurance I'm doing the right thing going with a RB street port exhaust.
Please let me know how satisfied you current owners are with youyr exhaust, especially if you a bridge ported engine.
700 bucks is a large amount of cash for me right now (I'll probably end up borrowing 200 for it and paying it back within a month and a half)

Is it really worth the cash? Is it ****-your-pants fantastic? Does it come with everything? (New Bolts, gaskets, ramen too eat after I spend all my money, etc.)
Keep in mind I AM willing too spend the money, just looking for honest answers about whether it's worth it.
