wuts up with gsl-se

wuts up with my gsl-se? On cold mornings my gsl-se acts like it has a dead battery eventhough it has a full charge(brand new optima). I do not have this problem on warm days. Also when it does start, it misses badly until it warms up and then it runs fine. I have the fast idle set to around 2200 rpm. sometimes, it doesnt evn start. i have to wait till the weather warms up. i also have brand new blaster coils, magnacor wire, cap and rotor, and plugs. some se owners seems to go through the same problem. Thanks,

I've had my GSL for about 7 years and every winter it cranks very slowly, but it eventually starts. It has only not started once at a hotel in Ann Arbor, MI in the single digits F with a windchill in the negative teens. I didn't feel too bad about it, though, there was a brand new Camaro Z28 right next to me that wouldn't start either.

I've heard that cheap starters are bad for these cars. Of course I have a cheap AutoZone POS, but it has a lifetime warranty.

both of my old GSLS-SE's did the slow crankin bit. cold weather the seals don't seal so well, cold battery=less power, slower cranking, less compression, bang, hehe. When I put the MSD in it seemed to start much better in the winter. But now I have no problem with the 7 in the winter, it's in storage. hehe

It will always crank slower in the colder weather. But as a precaution I would replace both battery cables, as mine used to start one day and not the next, replaced both battery cables and clean all the terminals and she cranks over everytime... Good reliability mod even if it doesn't need to be done. Cheap too...

ABout the missing? I don't know... If you have new cap, rotor, and wires? Did you check your ignitors on the distributor? And while your in there check your timing as well.

They tend to miss like that when it's cold. Kinda unstable idle. But don't worry. It's no big deal. Once the seals get warmed up and some oil gets into the combustion chamber it usually clears up.

Although it could be a number of things as well. Ice in the carb or fuel system, electrical, choke misadjustment. If it runs all right when it's warm, then you should be good. Try some antifreeze fuel additive. It's supposed to soak up all the water in your fuel system. Then run the tank out, then fill up with quality 87.
