wrong spark plug length?

I had to order these from advanced auto and they took 2 weeks to get in!!!! and now they are the right length thread, correct size but when they screw in they go too deep to keep the socket on the thing to tighten it!

I have a 1979 12A and I have a race next weekend. My current plugs are garbage and falling apart. Can I make these work? These were the only ones listed on their computer (go figure they got something wrong....) I got the set for about 35 bucks which is a bit steep but not like the RX8....

What should I do?

in dire circumstances, take your spark plug socket to the bench grinder

Yea, turn down or grind the outside of the sparkplug socket, Or just go shopping for one with a smaller O.D. size. 12 point sockets normally have thinner walls (smaller O.D.'s) as opposed to 6 point sockets.
