The Wrong Freakin' Drums?

First off, I had my rear brake drums redone about three yrs. ago. Lately I've been noticing this noise coming from the rear of my car. It is worse when I brake. I decided to check it out to see where it was coming from. I pulled off one rear wheel and noticed that one of the 2 drum attaching screws was missing. I decided to investigate a little further and found out why. The holes don't align properly. I checked the other side and it was the same way. I'm assuming that the wrong drums were put on my car and this is the reason for the noise from the rear. Would my assumption be correct? I know that I would have to replace the drums and probably the shoes. Is there anything else I should replace or be worried with.

I think it's HIGHLY unlikely that your drums are wrong for your car.

Because you have a drum brake rear, you have the 110 mm x 4 bolt pattern. There are VERY few cars with that bolt pattern.

Poorly manufacuted, maybe... Wrong ones, Unlikely.

Other cars with the same bolt pattern:
Toyota Corolla (RWD, 12 inch wheels)
Mazda R100
Mazda RX-2
Mazda RX-3
Mazda RX-4
Mazda RX-5 (Cosmo)

And I think thats it... And the last of those was out of production in the early 1980's.

Well with my ARE 534's, 5 star wheels, you HAVE TO remove the 2 screws. Their only positioners to aid in getting the wheel on... The 4 lugs bolts are what sandwiches the drum on there...

Id assume yuo would have had problems way before 3 years if it was something else,...

My race car is the same way. Not the noise, but the holes to line the drums up with the wheel. Don't worry, it's normal as far as I can tell. My holes don't line up (pisses me off.. I really wish they did so I can rotate the tires a lot easier).

Noise? Can you describe the noise more specifically? I'd suspect wheel bearings.

The noise seems to be a creeking sound, but not a grinding sound. It is a repetative sound that goes as fast as the wheel is turning. I hear it when I press on the brakes while I'm driving slowly, such as stopping at a light or beginning to accelerate. I don't hear it while I'm driving down the road.
