Worked with On, went to start and now nothing

I tried searching but the problem seems worse then the others.

This morning I went to go start my car and it read 12.5 V in the on position. Went to start it and everything turned off. I figured the ignition went bad in the start position, tried again and nothing from any position, not even a noise. Checked the fuses and they're intact, however I can only find 1 fusible link a green one under the column. Am I missing one? Is the key part completely wasted now? What else should I test? Where is the solenoid if there is one.

I had a similar issue a while back... my starter had gone bad and was grounding out when i tried to start the car... it was actually blowing my main fueable link, which is located under the hood, on the driver's shock tower.

It would help if you told us what you are working on and what you were doing before your problems .. Check your battery and clean the cables to see if it is good then check the starter for power the big starter cable where the battery cable goes on if you have power there then check the small wire on the starter .. it should have power when the key is in the start position .. Do you have headlights ?

Yep, got a jump and everything worked. I knew it had to be something simple, that's why I couldn't figure it out. Thanks.
