Hey, what year? Your better off replacing the pumpkin with a used one, itll be cheaper. What went south on your rear gear?

nope, second gen rearend is not a bolt up. Best to find a 12a cars LSD rear, they are most desirable. I throw out a non-lsd because no one wanted it.

no, i dont know yet. but my guess is the rear right because i jacked it up and when spining it backwards it almost locked up, and its only on the rear right(pass.), so i think a tooth must have come off and is getting smashed as it rotates, cause it was only when i backed up did it snap. so it must have got cracked going forward then snapped going backward. i can take it on a flat bed cuz it will smash my ground effect so i think im gonna try to drive it to the shop.

what do you guys think its gonna cost me?

You'll know if it's a ring gear. It makes this nasty sound that travels through your whole body, lol. Now an axle on the other hand won' t make much noise, it will just quit moving because of the lsd. I've been through both and had my car sitting on jacks for two months looking for a new axle. Found two and have one stored "just in case".

It would probably be easier to replace the whole rear end. Good time to get a GSL rear if you don't have one.

Don't worry about replacint the ring gear or anything, just put the car on ramps, unbolt your driveshaft flange, pop the axles out and swap it as a unit. Unlike domestic axles, there's no diff cover, the whole carrier bolts into the axle housing from the front. Get some oil and a used unit - takes an hour or two.
