wont go in gear.........

well the car has been sitting for a long time, it runs well though! it just wont go into gear. the clutch system seems to be working fine. the slave cylinder is engaging the clutch, or atleast partially. if i push it into the gear it stalls. has anyone had a similar problem? anyone know what it is????? thanks for any help...

I am having the same problem. It wont go into gear with the car running. I have bled the system and the slave is engaging. The clutch is brand new and so is the Master & Slave about 5000 miles on them. If I try to start it with the clutch ingaged and it in gear it lurchs forword. I have no Idea what it is????

does it have something to do with the pilot bearing maybe? or the fork that engages it?

i had my very own mother push the clutch pedal in, and the slave cylinder is pushing the fork in. which means the master cylinder is working too, but i dont know how far the slave cylinder is supposed to go?? maybe there's the problem? does anyone know???

If it will shift into gear with the car not running, and the slave cylinder is engaging the fork, then it is most likely the pilot bearing.
Time for a new clutch.

I'd say pilot bearing....samething happened to me. Bearing welded itself to the transmission input shaft.

My master clutch cylinder was also moving the slave cylinder but not enough to shift into gears. Looks like it was doing the job but after replacing it, it now shifts sweet!
