Wobbly steeriing shaft

My steering wheel had a very noticeable amount of play in it so I took it off to examine and found that the steering shaft wobbles around in the column. Is there supposed to be a bushing in the end of the column to support it? Here is a picture of my problem, you can see the shaft all the way to one side, and it moves freely around inside the column. Thanks for any help.

The Sa's have a problem in the steering column. On just about everyone you can lift the wheel up and down.

I had the same problem, for a quick fix i took two standard hose washers, they fit perfectly, squeezed just a tiny bit of heavy gear oil in there and after 4 months, still almost zero play. I'm interested in finding a nylon or metal bushing too, so if you find one first let me know!!!

Ill try to have a bushing made for it, seems like the best solution. If not Ill try and rig something up.
