Wiring help, 83 GS
was under the steering column looking for a good ignition + wire, when I spooted a plug that was un-done. Thick Blue wire and black/yellow tracer. I plugged them in, and a "check relay" under the hood (location, Drivers side, inbetween shock tower and firewall) clicked with the ignition.
What does that relay power up? Probably has something to do with my phantom ignitor problem doesn't it?

i dont know but my suggestion is unplug what you plugged at random and buy the hayes book for your car and find out what it is that wire goes to. or go into engine bay and find what is clicking or find wire color

An '83? The Haynes won't be of much use. It covers up to '82, and then it covers '84 and '85. There was a site known as I love my RX7 (.com I think) that had the actual year wiring diagrams availible. I do not know if it is still up, but if my bookmark at home can't find it, I'll see if I have the PDF of the wiring diagrams to upload for you.
'83 is like the bastard year for RX-7s. The wiring is completely different, the instrument cluster is different, and the stupid beehive oil cooler sometimes does, and sometimes doesn't exist. I had a bear trying to trace the wiring until I got the PDF of the actual shop manual for it. Haynes is good for most things mechanical, though... just the wiring doesn't quite work right...
At the soonest, I'll see about looking it up for you and see what those wires connect to Generally, there will be a bunch of connectors (I think I know of 3-4) that don't go anywhere... I have no idea what Mazda was thinking about doing with them, though, or maybe I'm just missing a lot of parts.
I *might* have my RX-7 in the shop later today, so if it comes in, I'll try to find said wires then, too. Good luck, and if you smell burnt insulation, unplug it :P
