i just had to this, just not necessarily a rebuild. the wiper shafts needed re-lubrication. the whole unit has to come out of the car. the connecting pieces just snap off but the shafts have metal rings that have to be removed to remove the shafts. these rings r alittle stubborn but (10mm nut), unless u mark it's orientation before taking it off. i could have used a third hand for getting those rings off tho. u might want to get a friend to assist u.

couple of points Matt-
-wipers need to be "parked" in upright position to remove (ie arms point up)
-the elec connector to the main harness is likely toast due to 25++ yrs UV exposure so be prepared to have it crumple trying to disconnect
I de-pinned a spare interior-sourced (off wreck) harness connector (needs 5-6 pin plug) and inserted the wiper pins (note the order of the pin/wires when you break apart the original connector!!!!). PITA but very doable. Wrap new connector in black tape after to avoid future sun damage.
-rack-wise, as mike sez, it likely just a re-lube. Worst case you need a newer motor, any SA, FB one fits.
All comes apart very easily, just take some reference photos so you know how to re-assemble!

Something to mention - be VERY careful to mark the position of the wiper arms to the splined shafts BEFORE you reinstall the unit, or alternately, take my advice, below.

Best bet, you can cycle the wipers without the arms attached once you get it relubed and reinstalled. Let the wiper rack come to the full stop position before you turn off the key switch to let them go to their 'rest' position. Then, install the wiper arms so that they sit parallel to the lower edge of the wind screen.

We had a member here who installed his arms in the 'up' position when the rack thought they were 'down' and it ended up scratching the living crap out of his valance/hood when the wipers were turned on.

Don't be *that* guy!
