Wiper issues

Ok Fellas I have a beautiful 84, recently my wipers stopped working........ After searching I found that the linkage broke at the bolt or pin that is connected into the wiper motor due to age and rust...... My question is, Can I use the Linkage and Motor from a 79-83 or only 84-85? whats the difference between the 2 If Any? I know there are multiple interchangable parts between them but some are tricky i.e some suspension and other electrical.

All 78-85 Gen 1 RX7 racks are the same.
Note the wipers need to be stopped in the 12-oclock position (wiper arms pointing straight up) to remove the rack.
Obv, as you have discovered, you will want to lube all the joints!
Be aware the 2 harness _connections_ that connect to the main harness often disintegrate due to sun/UV damage! I could crumble mine in my hand ;P
If its bad, you can easily re-assemble the wires/pins into a new connector shell (by new I mean off a wreck) - just pay close attention to the pin locations!! I then wrapped mine in shrinkwrap to keep the sun off it.
