Window wipers don't go all the way down?

I went to see an 83' RX7, really nice little car. The only issue was that the window wipers dont go completely down they stop about 5 inches higher than they should.

He said his buddy had an RX7 and it did that aswell, but I don't think its normal.

Any input on this would be appreciated aswell as how much it would take to get it fixed.

is there any play in the wipers? If you grab one of the wipers do they both move up and down?

If so then the mecanism came apart. I was able to get mine back together with just snapping it back together.

probably just that the wiper arms were taken off and put back on a notch off on the shaft.

Worst case the wiper rack is shot - brainless swap out, so don't let it stop you from getting the car if the rest checks out...

1st and 2nd gen 7 wipers don't have todays common park feature. The position in which they stop can be adjusted by removing the covered nut on the pivot, wiggling the arm up and off, then resetting and tightening down the nut. Do not just simply loosen the nut and force the wiper, that will strip the knurls.

I bet you are all right, the arms were probably moved by someone. I was in a rush out the door when I made my first post.
