Thumbs down will i need a new housing?

I blew a seal or two possiably, on my 1st rotor, i'm wondering whether i should rebuild or swap for a used engine, i'm wondering if i would have to get a new houseing cause of the broken seal. I know they can be a bit costly, i trying to add up all the money i'll need. When seals go, is it common to have to get new housings?

Thanks in advance, Matt

I'd like to see pics of that rotorhousing.

Commonly, a toasted apex seal means lots of netal bouncing around that rotor housing and rotor, requiring new parts. 2 blown apex seals = $. Are the internmed and side plates okay? The busted apex seals certainly can take those out too.

Been there, just did that.

did you turn the engine off as soon as the seal blew? if you did you might have avoided too much damage and be able to get away with just lapping the housing. but if there is too much damage just get a new housing from a reliable source.

It's not going to make much difference whether you turn the engine off straight away or not. All it takes is a few revolution's to score the housings and the broken seal usually get's spat out the exhaust ports anyway.

I'd say driving the motor while it's half blown is probably the worst thing you could do to it. Count on getting a new housing.
