wierd whine gsl-se

i have an 84 gsl-se and recently replaced the tranny with a low mileage used one. the original tranny had a fresh rebuild less than 8000 miles ago and was smooth like butter, until, for no reason it began to make a high pitched whine whenever i got on it. its a mt 5 speed and did it in every gear and only if i put med-to hard power to it. it sometimes changes pitch and is not related to a specific gear or rpm, instead it only does it when i get "on it". soon after (1-2 days) the noise started i was driving at hwy speed 65 to 70 and fifth gear came unglued and sounded like metal hamsters fighting. i put it in fourth and it was fine. i drove it like this for 2 more months, only a light clicking in neutral and all other gears, worked great, and best of all the noise stopped. so i bought a used 84 gsl-se transmission and replaced it this weekend. tested it out and it was smooth like butter too, until it started to whine just like the previous one, less than 2 hours later. what the f*ck is the whine, why would both transmission do it. why would it stop when 5th broke. why would a totally different transmission make the same noise my old one did, when my old one stopped after losing 5th. is 5th going in this one too? thanks

Pilot bearing should only make noise when the clutch is in and the tranny is not in neutral.
