wierd noises

ok...

when i take off from a stop i hear a squeaking noise, sounds like its coming from the front of the car. its not the belts, ive checks. sometimes i hear a grinding noise from the rear gear.

what could be the cause of these. so i dont have to tear the whole car apart to find out that what i took apart was the problem

Is it a high pitched squeek or a lower pitch squeek? If its a lower pitch, it could simply be the front spring moving around a bit and reseating on the upper perch (rubber doo-hicky). Also could be as bad as a main bearing going out. Basically, what I am saying is it could be nothing really and could be pretty important. I say do some digging around in the suspension, like bounce the front end and see if you can make the noise.

DON'T LAUGH !! You might want to try this...

When I had this problem on my '85, it was an EZ fix... I installed a washer under both cushion rubbers under the front of the hood. May sound unhelpful, but I hope YOURS is that EZ of a fix as well
