wideband Question

i was looking on buying one so i found lots of info in the archieve. i narrowed it down to the plx m300 or the inovate lma2. they both are great but one has a feature the other doesnt.

the m300 has a narrow band which sounds very nice to have

the lma2 has 4 extra analog places for other features.

my question is, does the lma2 have teh narrowband ability too?

i would think that narrow band would only be helpful if i were going w/ an ecu right?
im going full carb just for reference.

If you want a narrow band reading, then install a seperate one if going with the lma2. The question to ask though is, 'What do you need a narrowband with a carb for'? It's of no use to the ecu and narrowband gauges are pretty worthless.

If you are going with a standalone ecu, most can use a wideband anyway, but a standalone with a carb is a waste of money, don't you think? I would go with the lma2 for the extra outputs and the ability to log extra parameters when tuning and trouble shooting.

Coming from someone who has the LM-1 with the RPM kit.

I would HIGHLY recommend it!!

I would snag one off ebay. I got the LM-1 with the RPM kit new in box for 320 shipped!

I really dont know why you would need the narrowband, even though LM-1 does have a analog output for it. I run it on a full carb set up too, so I dont need it.

If you need any help with your install feel free to ask

EDIT: After re-reading my owners manual on the LM-1, I can see where the narrowband output would be useful if you want to run a permant gauge to show your AFR's so you can see on the glance what your AFR is, instead of looking down at the unit.

I took a quote from the PDF

8.1 Analog Lambda/AFR instrument.

There are many analog lambda/AFR displays on the market. They are essentially voltmeters for a voltage between 0 and 1 V and measure the analog voltage of a narrow band oxygen sensor. Some are true analog instruments while others provide a LED bar. Because of the very limited sensing range of a narrow band sensor they are essentially useless as true AFR meters. With the
LM-1, connecting these meters to the second analog output of the LM-1 allows them to be used as true remote AFR meters, provided the LM-1 analog output is programmed to the characteristics of the used meter.
