Why you can put the trailing on the leading on the distributor when using DLIDFIS?

How come you can do this? I do not fully understand how a dizzy works so can any1 explain this to me?

At howstuffworks you see how the dizzy guides the spark. It changes the output place. Like cilinder 1-3-2-4. With a rotary like in L1-L2 if you only look at the L.

If you put the Trailing ignitor into the Leading plughole on the dizzy doesn't that changes the timing of the Trailing plugs?

Like the T plugs fire when the L plugs are supposed to?

Some1 please enlighten me

You really need to have a look at the dizzy cap and rotor and the insides of the dizzy to see how it works.

Basically, you need to think of it as two seperate stages. The ignitors and pickups are the signal stage and tell the coils when to fire ie, control the timing.

The cap and rotor are simply a way for the spark to reach the appropriate spark plug from the coil. They have nothing to do with the timing.

It doesn't even have to be DLIDFIS. You can swap all the leading and trailing wires around on the stock setup and your car will run exactly the same.
