why are my SE brakes spongy?

so after sitting for 2 years, i finally revived my new (to me) 1984 GSL-SE and got it on the road.

the previous owner kept amazing care of it, the only rust is in the storage bins, and bad corrosion along the bottom seams. I'm going ot get new metal welded into the bins, and am looking for solutions for the rest of the rust

the engine is original at 222000kms and still has punch. the power curve feels very linear to me though, this may be the 5th and 6th ports not opening, but i really don't know as thisis my first non carbed 1st gen

but what i'm wondering aobu are the brakes. I took the car to a mechanic for this part, as i just wasnt set up to do it, adn he repaced the front rotors, machined the rears, put new pads all round and bled the system.

now about 1000kms in, they feel really soft, and i can't get them to "lock up". I'm not sure what the problem might be, maybe theres air in the brake lines, but iam only guessing, since i don't really know how the brakes are supposed to feel?

so, how should the brakes feel? very tight? spongy like this? is there a commin issue with these brakes that i haven't read about?

any input would be greatly appreciated

buy a new master cylinder. in most cases whenever these cars sit for a while they need to be replaced.

If, when holding constant pressure on the brake pedal, it slowly goes down, there is a leak in the system. I there is no fluid loss, then the seals in the master are bad. Brakes should never feel spongy, that's a sure sign that work is needed.
