Who sells a quality carpet?

Ok, I need to buy some new carpet for my se. Who sells a good carpet that fits like it should? Anyone who has replaced there carpet with new, please chime in here and let me know what companies are good. I tried searching with no luck. I know of a few Aussie shops but those pads sewn into the floor and firewall will be on the wrong side of the car.

1AAutomotive.com You can choose any color you want. They have door gaskets too for 1/2 the price of VB.

I bought from them for my turd brown GSL last year. It's still sitting in the basement, so I can't comment on the fitment. It does look like it is well made. Most of the aftermarket carpets have a shroter knap than the stock carpets. If you want plush, go for the heaviest ounce weight they have.

I do know first hand that the VB carpets are crap. I bought a carpet set for my Z and returned it. Came in 5-6 pieces and was not moulded.

You will need to save your padding, or source some aftermarket padding. Most of the repalacement carpets have thin padding.

I got mine from the local trim shop ( Installed labor and materials for 200 ). They ordered it already formed with nice padding. Really nice. I got a choice of cut, loop, or cut and loop. I went with the cut and loop. It is plush and durable. I'd say much better that OE. My .02

that first link gives you a lot of color choices. That's pretty cool. How would you install the carpet though?

Yeah, I like all the colors. I'm swapping my burgandy interior for gray. I am going to pull the burgandy dash to put in a gray dash and install the carpet at the same time. From my experiance, to install the carpet properly, you need to pull the dash. I'm planning on going with a darker gray than stock because the stock gray carpet's I have seen are soo dirty.

yeah I know what you mean. The stock gray can get pretty stainy .. mine has all those greese patches all over my carpet. Pretty nasty. hehe.

I was thinking about installing carpet too. Does the carpet with the dash out have to be screwed into anything? or does the dash just locks the carpet in place?

You know, I'm not sure about that, I just know I tried removing a carpet from a car that that dash was still in and I couldn't do it. I ended up ripping the carpet.

It would probably be a nasty job. But If I can do it, then it's all good. I'm wondering if the haynes manual covers that kind of thing. The ghetto way I would do it is probably use screws to hold the carpet in place. If I got new carpet I probably wouldn't have to replace it anyway, lol.

No thanks, I want it to match. I have a perfect black carpet as well but I think I'm gonna go with a really dark gray. I'm only planning on pulling my dash once so I wanna go with new stuff.

Yeah, i don't know, if you wanted to do it without removing the dash, go to the junkyard and try removing and installing on one of their cars so you don't mess yours up. The problem is not what holds the carpet down, I think the dash just sits ontop of it in that area, the problem would be squeezing the carpet up under the dash without damaging it. I highly doubt you would get the carpet into the proper position unless maybe you cut it somehow and just went around the dash???

yeah probably. I would just be afraid of the carpet getting out of place if I just cut it around the dash because of the foot dragging inside the car, unless the carpet has durability. Otherwise I would just cut it around the dash.
