whistling noise from back of engine....?
How is everyone doing? I was finally able to get my new 12a Bridgeport to start and run but now i keep on hearing a whistling sound coming from somewhere in the back of the engine where the firewall is. Sounds like something is grinding, i know it might be a throw out bearing but i really doubt it. Does any one know if there could be something else grinding there? Is it possible to put the engine to the tranny the wrong way? I actually drove the car and it seems fine except that i think i have a vacum leak so the rpms jump when i shift. Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

You know sometimes I get a whistling noise too. I found it to be the choke's warmup hose. The hose leads usually to the bottom back of the motor near the exhaust. It is there to suck warm air in for colder startups or something and will usually whistle until the car is fully warmed up.

mine does it all the time though, the sound is very similar to the belt squeling. I was thinking if it might be a bearing in the back of the eccentric shaft. Just don't feel like tearing it all apart until i'm more sure of it. Also it only does it after i get a few rpms going, like 1500 or so.
