Wherefore art thou louvers?

Well, I was just wondering if anyone knew where in the world I could get the side glass and rear hatch louvers for the 1st gen?

I've seen some for sale, but when asked they were already sold. *cries*

I know some people don't like the looks of them, but I'm not one of those people. I actually like the louvers, plus it helps keep my hatch cool (anything helps when you have a black interior).

Soooo...any help is appreciated.

Another option for the sides is to just tint the windows. They're small and relatively flat so it should be pretty cheap.

Mine are done that way and it seems to work pretty good.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I have the rear louvers, though not for sale. I'm one of the ones that likes 'em, too

Yeah I thought about tinting them, but I thought it looked kinda weird to just have the hatch louvers without the side glass ones. If I can't find any I might just have to live with it.

Try Driverfx.com
(http://www.7453217467431.com/affili...D=1036731488703)

They have:

Astra Hammnd
PLASTIC SIDE LOUVER RX7 78-85
Styles: 1045 US $118.91
and Plastic Rear Louver for ~$171

Call'em b4 u order, though, 'cause the image they show ain't an RX. Probly just using a generic image, but who knows?

Victoria British has them on page 28 of their catalog. You'll have to order a catalog (free) at www.victoriabritish.com. They're $270 for Aluminum and Stainless Steel rear louvers (like mine) and $170 for ABS plastic side louvers (like mine).

I've never been a fan of the side louvers as they don't really look like louvers to me - more like those tail light covers you see primarily on pickups...those slotted plastic things.

Yeah, they are. Alum + SS rear louvers and ABS Plastic side louvers (same-same VB has in their catalog). I did, however, order them thru a Mazda dealer in Birmingham, AL in 1985 while I was TDY to Huntsville.

My right side louver blew off on the highway and got run over by a semi, a peekup, a honda (with fart can exhaust), a blind biker, and an old lady in a motorized wheel chair before I could get stopped, turned around and back to pick it up . Hours of delicate surgery using every glue known to man, got it back together again.
Now that I've found a source, I'll probably get a new set nxt year.

I just removed a set of rear louvers from a 1980 RX7. They are molded black plastic (ABS?), lightweight, somewhat dirty but not faded.

I still need to take the mountings off of the rear hatch - this particular attachment setup allows the whole assembly to be quickly lifted while pivoting at the top hinge so you can clean the back window.

Thinking about putting them and the metal sunroof (along with a whole lot of other components I'll be parting out) up on Ebay one of these days........anyone interested between now and when I get around to it can make me an offer.

There is a little autoparts store here in St. Louis that has a rear louver (aluminum I think) for an FB. It has been sitting in the back for years and the owner was going to give it to me until he realized I had a later car (FC). They might still have them for REAL cheap.
Anyone interested?
