Where is the fuel pump relay in a 85 GSL SE?

Hello,

Can anyone tell me exactly where the fuel pump relay is, and what it looks like, what color the wires are? Sorry to get so specific, but I've been trying to locate it under the dash, and if the thread https://www.rx7club.com/1st-gen-archive-71/fuel-84-85-fuel-pump-relay-trick-597949/ is correct, I don't have any relay there, over the gas pedal under the dash. I have a 'no fuel pumping' problem, (I have spark to the trailing plugs, so the igniter is good, and I hot-wired the fuel pump, so that is good) and I want to check that relay, but I have no idea what it looks like or where it is.... Thanks for any insight.

Richard

There is a metal plate under the carpet in front of the passenger seat. If you remove it you will find the ECU and the circuit opening relay. The circuit opening relay is the GSLSE's fuel pump relay. 12A cars have the relay under the dash. FYI the door in the MAF after the air filter has a switch that turns on the fuel pump when air is sucked in by the engine. If that door is stuck shut the fuel pump will not get power. You can check by removing the air filter and pushing on the door by hand. It should move freely with little force. There is also an unconnected 2 terminal plug with a black rubber shroud next to the MAF. Connecting the 2 terminals together with a jumper will make the pump come on whenever ignition is turned on.

74RX4,

Thanks. Especially for the FYI on the MAF. I'll need to ID that 2 terminal plug to jumper it if I have another problem! If that fixes it (temporarily) then I'll know the MAF is the problem.
