Contacts are two pieces of metal, that when joined, close an electrical connection. Are you talking about the high/low beams or the side lenses?

They may have been referring to the contacts in your combination switch on the steering wheel (behind). If you've got a problem on just one side, I'm not sure this would help.

I am talking about the lights on the left side. both front and rear dont work however for some reason high beam works. Searched. Found that it was a common problem. Solution was to clean the contacts.

Does Anyoe Know What They Are?

VERY VERY common problem, you need to take the cluster assy out from behind the steering wheel and spray it out with contact cleaner... If you do a little search you will see a few others that had the same problem... My car was one of them

the search gives this.

What exactly is this, how do you go about taking it apart.

Any pics at all?
