wheels

Im going to to get new rims, i want either 16's or 17's so they really fill up the wheel wells. will 17's fit without having to roll the lip over on the fender? and if not what is the best way to do that. i have the stock suspension.
These are the rims. thanks

I had to subtly roll the lip of the front fenders to fit my 16" rims.

I just put on 17x7's with a 205/40/17 tire and and they fit perfectly. No need to roll fenders or anything.

goodluck on finding rims! it looks as though you have an 81, and unless you have done the suspension swap, you won't easily be able to find 16" or 17" wheels for your car. that is unless you are having them drilled for the 4x110 pattern. if you don't know what i am talking about, use the search... there are plenty of threads about it.

How did you do this without damaging or cracking the paint? what tools did you use? etc etc, my tyres hit the top of the guard when i hit bigger bumps or under heavy braking cornering etc

A good rubber mallett and a steady hand can roll the lip pretty well. My friend used to use a baseball bat, would come out perfect. Looked like it was supposed to be like that.
