Wheel Refinish

I have a set of + wheels on my car that are looking sad.

I was going to use aircraft stripper to take off the clear. This car is my DD so I can't just remove the tires and stems.

What should I use to protect the tires and stems?

Every thread I have found talks about this with the tires removed.

Anything else I need to know about doing this?

Masking tape and newspapers should work.

Also are you just going to leave the wheel's aluminum exposed to the elements?
You should think about re clear coating them.

toothbrush, masking tape, rubber gloves, saftey glasses, aircraft stripper, and clear coat. takes about 4 hours to do all 4.

ok, not to thread jack, but how would you prep a waffle rims for paint, note that they've been sitting outside for the last 8yrs.

The exact same way you prep a car for paint. Wash and degrease with products that DO NOT contain petroleum solvents. Petroleum = bad paint adhesion.
