wheel offset #'s

does a higher number mean more positive offset?...and does that mean the wheel is closer to the car?...or is positive offset mean the wheel is further away from the fender...???

The lower the offset the more it'll stick out.

Wow I'm glad this thread came up, I was under the mistaken impression that offset would work the other way.
