Wheel Bearings

Hey fellas, Im going to change my wheels bearings soon both fronts and rear. Just wanted to know any tips. I know that for the rear I have to pull the axle and take it to a machine shop to get the bearing pulled out and the new bearing pressed in but aside from that any tips, special tools or anything to look out for? once again im doing both front bearings and rear bearings any help would be much appreciated! Thanks alot for taking a look at my post.

do you plan on doing the races on the front bearings? (the opposing side of the bearing) i think it would be wise to do them in pairs as you could ruin a new bearing if the old race is damaged. the race might be fine and would work but personally i would. if you do, a brass drift is in order to drive out the old race, fairly simply just take your time and don't gouge the sidewalls.

I got this tip from ss124a, take a piece of 4x2 and shape the end of it to the size of the bearing race, then when you install the new race just pound it in with the wood, helps to freeze the race also.

The rear bearings can be done yourself if you think you're up to it. You need to cut or chisel the old collar off. The new bearing and collar can be hammered on with some appropriately sized metal tubing over the axle. It helps if you put the collar in the oven for a while first.
