What is your optimal timing settings on GSL-SE?
I'd be surprised if my 85 SE had ever had the timing checked since it left the factory. I have access to an adjustable timing light where I can dial in the advance so I won't have to mark the pulley. I want to check it before I install the 2nd gen. leading coil. I know how to set the timing to stock specs at idle...
20 deg. ATDC on Trailing.
5 deg. ATDC on Leading.
I may have read somewhere Mazda sort of de-tuned our cars for less emissions. My question stems from Yaws website about timing and he recommends 26 & 16 at 4,000 RPM's if I understand correctly. What would that be at idle? 23? & 8?
Should I just keep it at stock or does anyone know if you get any performance gains by dialing in say maybe 3 deg. on the adjustable timing light?
