what would you do? (car buying problem)

so i see this add, think it sounds good, so i make arangements to buy the car, we work out a price, i call the shipping company and arrange shipping, well today the shippers showed up to get the car, and its not running, the seller says it never was, but as you can see here from this quote
"Here is the current conditon of the car: The motor has only about 120 miles after rebuild so it's not even brocken in yet. The car starts up but runs rough, something is probably wrong with timing or ignition. Haven't had the time to mess with it."

it says it is running, just needs tuning, new he tells me it wont run, but will with tuning, so hes offered me some spare parts to try and sweaten the deal, but i dont know, i had some dyno time reserved for this weekend, and now i either take one of my other cars that doesnt need it, or just loose the deposit, so i dont know, what do you think i should do?

That depends on:
what was the price?
condition of the body/interior
papers proving the rebuild
compression of motor
what spare parts?

I'd be nervous about buying the car site unseen unless I had a very knowledgable rotorhead friend check it out for me.
As far as the deposit for dyno time: sell it to somebody else or give it away and then you may have a favour owed.

I have to agree on this one. Buying a car cheap with a 120-mile, amature-rebuilt motor that "needs tuning" is asking for trouble.

Edit: especially one that you've never seen. Have the engine compression and oil pressure checked; or better yet, have someone inspect it.

thats the link to the ad

Prise $2000 shipped
body and interior both look good
Parts hes offered consist of:

non working msd box (he says MSD will fix it for 50 or less)
Holley Jet Kit (64-99 jet numbers).
stock pressure plate and clutch in a very good conditon
12a rotors and endplates,
a bunch of 2 piece apex seals

i am feeling kindof nervous about it, i have been but if everything is as advertized its a fair deal

Man, that sucks. A quick search of his latest posts says:

It's not running again and i'm sick of it. Started it up one day, it came on really strong but then stalled out and i couldn't get it to run properly ever since. Could be the dizzy but i blame it on bad housings because it was fouling plugs like crazy.
To make things worse i finally blew the tranny in my daily driven eclipse, so i got two cars i'm paying insurance for that don't run. Something has got to be done...i need to get rid of one of the cars.

But yeah, please let me know if you find anything. I need just the motor but if the whole car is pretty cheap, i'll take that too. If i don't find anything i just might build myself another motor using bridgeport's seals and different housings and i'm thinking of just doing a mild street port, better for a daily driver. [/B]

id really like to have this car, ive been planing a BP for my other 12a, but when i saw this i figured i could have a stock 7 to drive daily and a BP to have fun with

Pruh. If you want it, I'd make a trip down to Florida to check it out yourself. Borrow or rent something with a trailer hitch.

Keep in mind though that whenever you go to look at a car for purchase, keep an open mind. You can't go with the attitude that "I gotta get THIS car" because the mind has a funny way of keeping your eyes and brains from seeing the problems that the car actually has.

He kinda seem shady about the whole thing, believe his post questions not his answers....P.s 2k is way to much for a NON-running car (FB) I have an 85 I'll sell you really cheap it has a straight body, running motor, but interior is crap....dash still good....just no carpet. Beware!
