What size Wheel do you have in your FB?

whats the stock steering wheel size?

and what size wheel do most people have in their cars?

do you have problems reading the instruments with the smaller wheels?
and whats it like to drive (without p/s)

coz im sick of my skinny, large radius stock wheel, and would like something smaller, but not sure what size to go.

Thanks Guys.

Smaller wheels will block the gauges to a degree.
The stock 3 spoke wheel on the 88 FC looks good.It bolts right up and has a clean look.I run a Jspec 3rd gen Infini wheel which also bolts right up and looks very nice.It has a nice fat rim and matches up with the steering column cover well.Neither one is smaller than stock, but it wont matter because it helps the look of the dash area a lot to have a classy looking steering wheel.Plus no P/S makes a full size wheel welcome.

You can find both for sale on Ebay and Parts trader from time to time.Ive come across 2 of the 88 wheels in junkyards over the years.

I have 15's on my car... I know 17's work, because I have a friend that is using them on his FB and they look amazing... he doesn't have any problems with clearance either.

yea we're talking steering wheels now. iirc the stock fb steering wheel is 15", my momo is 350mm, so thats like 13.6" or something. It blocked the gauges at first, but I added a omp 60mm spacer, which brought it towards me (duh) but also up a bit due to the angle of the steering column. I can fit my knees under the wheel now, and the gauges are fully visable.

oh and as for the feel, its not really harder to drive than the stocker, maybe a little extra effort and low speeds, thats about it.

Is that style Steering Wheel used so they can put the HandCuffs on easier when they take you to the Funny Farm?

Yea, I like the smaller wheel quite a bit, I wish I had gotton it sooner. Its feels better than that school bus wheel and gives me more room for my legs. The stock wheel had my legs pineed against the center concole and door panel. The momo gives me room to move my knees. I like it a lot. If you go the momo route expect to spend $250 for the wheel and hub, pricy but worth it IMO.

I've got the Momo Monte Carlo on mine. It blocks the tops of the guages for me but if I move my head around, I can see them. I'm 6'1". That will depend alot on how tall you are. The MonteCarlo has the same texture as the dash board so it really looks like it belongs there. The small diameter combined with sticky tires does make it harder to turn at lower speeds but it's worth it for the nice feeling and as 82transam said, the freed leg room.

I'd get a new steering wheel if I could find one that looked decent. All the aftermarket ones I've seen don't match well at all. I really like the look of a second gen wheel (I'm not sure how to describe it) but it's black leather (well it looks like it could be) with two short "spokes" about a 120 degree angle at the bottom IIRC. I'm not sure about the diameter.

I have a grant challenger series 13.5" steering wheel and I love it. A little more aggressive looking than the original, and so much easier to get in under (I'm 6'3" tall). It does block the gauges quite a bit, but that doesn't bother me. The challenger series steering wheel I have is a 4 spoke design that looks like the stocker. The main difference is the chromed spokes, deeper dish, and smaller size. It also has a very comfortable foam rubber grip.
