Question What size battery is the norm?

I have a 550 in my RX atm and i am worried that it is too big for the alternator to charge it properly. I have been having battery troubles for a while, i need a new dizzy cap and rotor button aswell could this be effecting it?

Nah. Maybe your battery is on the way out.

I have one Odyssey 650 which is about 330cca. It works great except for going flat over about 4 days. Another forum member uses two 650s for a combined total of 660cca and that also works great (I don't think his parasitic drain is quite as bad, but it's still there).

I know another dude that uses an Optima red top I think (maybe yellow top). They're huge batteries and he loves his.

What battery probs are you having?

Well it is hard to start the car often, i tried taking out the alternator plug that runs the current back to the battery and it starts straight out. It idels heaps better when the alternator plug is out, when i got to put it back in the revs start jumping around. It seems like the car is working too hard to try and charge the battery.

There is no such thing as too big a battery, its just a storage center that starts your vehicle.
The alternators job is to replace amperage that is used when you use your lights, radio, etc.
You need to have the battery load tested to verify it is holding a charge and the alt for output, normal testing procedure. By the way why did they have to go and build all those damn high rises on the gold coast. When i visited in 1980 there wasnt a one.LOl. rx7doctor
