What should I offer for a junkyard SE?

Just like the title says. Its brown, the driver's door is missing, interior is really shitty (due mainly to the missing driver's door). Probably doesn't run. My plan is to get it, take the necessary parts off for a full rear end and brake swap, and maybe the engine (If i can get it running), and then put the corresponding equipment from my GS back on, and sell it to a different yard (possible cost to me: 0, if i can finagle the deal right). First off, is that even legal (seems too easy)? Second, how much should I offer the first yard for the car? Thanks.

They will probalby charge $350 to $400 for the car. And if you take the engine, you'll have to pay another junk yard to take it.

What's the recommended method of getting the car to my place, if its not drivable? Does anybody know if AAA (I'm a member) will tow it for free, even though the car isn't "technically" broken-down.

The 83 GS I got from a junk yard was $350 and i had my boss at the gas station tow it for me. If I were you I wouldn't waste my time with the SE engine, if you gonna go through all the trouble of a 13b swap at least make it a FC engine. just my $.02

Is it clear why it's in the yard? If it's just missing the driver's door (no other body damage) then it's probably there because the engine is no good.

lotsacars: Yeah, the driver's door is the only thing obviously wrong with it. My initial guess was that it wasn't taken very good care of, and the engine blew the apex seals, and the owner just didn't want to replace 'em. I think it has close to 170,000 miles on it, if I remember correctly. The likelyhood that I'd even try to do a 13B conversion with that car's engine is pretty low anyway. I'm mainly in it for the suspension, wheels, and a couple of random interior parts.

On a random side note, I wonder if there's any way I could keep my post count static.

I would check with the motor vehicle agency in your state to see whether this is legal or not.
