Lightbulb What should I do first to my 82

What are the first mods i should do to my exterior/ interior/ engine? Money is slightly limited but all suggestions are welcome.

There really are too many to list. But there have been several suggested over the life of the forum. Don't take this wrong, but try the search function. A search for "cheap mods", "bolt-on mods" or "easy mods" should show plenty of results to get you started in the right direction.

exhaust: this will make a huge difference,
go with racing beat and be happy www.racingbeat.com

you can build your own, but AT LEAST start it with a racingbeat header. and use heavy guage or SS piping.
also, regular mufflers will burn out almost immediatly.

agian, just get a racingbeat system, it will bolt right in and it will outlast the car. +great sound

next would be a fuel pump to handel the extra fuel needs created by the exhaust. rejetting the carb will help also.


those two mods will add 20+ hp easy for about $750 anouther $500 for a weber carb and you get near 140-150hp if its set up well.

then get on the suspension,

You will not need to upgrade the fuel pump unless you went with a streetport, 13b, or forced induction, However rejetting can help.

The #1 thing you want to know before you start modifying your car is how much power do you want.

If you will be happy with a 12a pushing low numbers and possibley a ported motor when she blows pushing around 180hp, then great, get that exhaust, weber, etc.

If you want more power then there are many routes you can take that involve the building of completely different systems. What I'm saying is you wouldnt' want to spend the $600 on a 12a exhaust system and later decide you want to drop a TII engine in it. Decide what you want first, then go from there. You will see it alot, people selling setups because they changed their mind, and that mind change always cost more money then if they would have went that way initially.

I agree with street racer about a new fuel pump, fuel is important! heh, new pump and filter really can't hurt and its not too expensive IMO it is deffinetly worth it.

drive the hell out of it. Red line it all the time and have fun. Once you blow it up and have to rebuild worry about mods. You should be out bird-******* chicks and banging beaver. When your old and married spend your time in the garage.

the first step... is a step twards other steps... remove the RATS NEST! thats a MUST before any other performance mod can be done...

when I installed my headers, i didnt see a large gain until I installed the pump.
