What is the most common no fuel issue?

I may purchase a 1985 RX7 GSL-SE from a neighbor. It's been sitting for several years, but still looks great. It's a 2 owner car that only needs a front drivers side fender and inside passenger door panel. They want $350. The engine will run as long as you spray starter fluid into the intake, so I guess it's not getting gas. Before I jump in I figured it's better to ask about common fuel issues... i.e. fuel pump vs. relay vs. whatever. Thanks in advance. Rick

Yep, mine sat for 10 years and has gone through 5 fuel filters in the last 2 weeks, I am prepping a replacement tank for installation. Fuel filters are picking up all the crud from 10 years of fuel tank condensation which is saving my pump.

Other things to check are fuel pump, do this by turning key to start while fuel line to carb ( the one without the aluminum check valve in it) and see if fuel pumps from the line. Check you are getting power to the fuel pump, these wires are under the storage box on the drivers side and do wear through causing an grounding problem.

if a gsl-se gets no fuel, check the trailing ignition. setup works like this

trailing ignitor->trailing coil->rpm signal wire to ecu->ecu->fuel pump relay->
fuel pump->fuel filter->injectors......
