Thanks for posting that. Very helpful. I was using it to help me figure out tire sizes.

Yep 15X8 all around. They are just cheapy XXR 501.

I bought them off a guys LS1 Miata. $400 and they came with newish road racing tires.

Thanks for the compliments!

Thanks for the info HadaGSL-SE, I was planning on stretching 195/50 tyres on them so hopefully it works out ok and ill post a pic once i have bought them and fitted them at a later date. hopefully not much changes with an 79 sa22c model with the exception of the bolt pattern!:)

EDIT: I also just spied your sa22c in the background, would it be much of a hassle to test fit one of your 15x8 wheels on the front and take a photo for me??? i can even pay you $10 via bank transfer if you wish?

HadaGSL-SE 10-14-10 06:00 PM

I would do it free of charge but in the good old USA, all non GSL-SE (my blue car) are 4X110 bolt pattern. The GSL-SE's are 4X114.3. These rims are dual pattern 4X114.3 and 4X100.

I could mock fit one since the 4x110 have studs rather than bolts. I will try to get to that this weekend and post pictures.

On non gsl-se models you can actually run a lower offset which is a good thing (fatter lip). A wheel that sticks out on an se might fit perfect on a non se :)

I like the sound of that! the ones i am looking at have a 3"
lip so they should look the part on the seven if all goes well. thanks for the tip!

Hey mate, did you get a chance to test one of your rims on your SA22C?
I'm still keen to see if they fit.:)

these (17x10 with 235's) +22 iirc rub a little on the inside of the chassis.

needs flares to make it really cool

hoang5659 10-18-10 12:39 PM

notveryhappyjack,

is that a 5 lug conversion? what are the offsets on your wheels (front/back)? do you have spacers on at all? i want the same look on my FB. looking into the maximum backspacing front/back that i can run on my GSL-SE. thanks.

Ok I mock fitted the XXR 501 15X8 +15 on my stock 1979.

Doesn't look like it will fit well. Barely clears the strut tower and still would stick out of the fender. I jacked the car up took the wheel off then jacked up the suspension until it was supporting the weight of the car and had my friend hold the wheel flush to the hub. Here are the photos.

Jibaro 12A 10-18-10 02:44 PM

HadaGSL-SE that is one very gorgeous SA! What are your plans for her?

Thank you!

She should be staying stock. Maybe a Sterling carb and the RB Exhaust I already have. That should be it.

If you look at my sig I have enough other toys. You can see the GSL-SE in the background or earlier in the thread.

Then there is the V8 Volvo and V8 Miata pictured below.

Thanks so much for doing that mate! I really appreciate it.

do you think a better fit would be +20 with a 195 wide tyre? or would that still be pushing it?

HadaGSL-SE 10-18-10 05:42 PM

I would think that 20mm would be bringing it in further and it would contact the strut tower.

I am no wheel fitment expert. I bought these rims b/c I saw one other GSL-SE that had them and asked the guy if he had any issues.

Thats ok. thanks a lot for your help and going out of your way for that the other day. :)

sorry to threadjack but.......

I have 17 x 8 +35 front and 17 x 9 +35 rear going in my SA. they came off of a turboII and I am doing the 5 lug conversion. I am not worried about sticking out as much as rubbing on inside. anyone think I will rub? I am thinking 45-50 series tires.

RotaryRevn 10-22-10 09:35 PM

I saw these for sale, thought someone might be interested. I am not affiliated with this seller in any way. If I was to make an offer on them, I would offer 350 for one pair. 400 tops is what I would pay for one pair of autobahns, and you can easily find some at that price if you keep your eyes out. These suckers can be polished up really NICE. This offset might stick out just a bit.

Based on the following response, I would say it won't fit, it will rub on the inside as your wheels will sit inside even more due to the higher offset...... Now let's please try to keep this thread to stock fendered se's as these gsl-se offset threads always get confusing when people start comparing wide bodies/flares/non-se's ect. Thanks :)

thanks for the response. I had no idea there was a difference in the models. From your quote and a calculator I got it figured out now on what I need to do next. thank you.

thafox 10-23-10 07:32 PM

kinda like dream36realms said except i was looking at some 16x7 and 16x8 with 37mm offset on my -se, they're comming off a s13 i think they should fit but im not 100% sure, might be running 245/50 out back and 205/50 out front what do you guys think?

YES..my car is an original GSL-SE. I installed RE-Speed's big brake kit both Front and Rear (complete with Moser axles) with TII calipers and disc all around. The offset did NOT change with the conversion as everything still is pretty much in stock location. As stated, the rear wheels do stick out about 2mm but with stretched tires it is a good fit. The front fit fine with the setup on it now, they are flush with the fenders. All 4 fenders have been rolled for better clearance.

On another note... I had 0 offset Panasports that I tried on the car prior to my 5-lug conversion and they stick out past the fenders on a true GSL-SE. It has been discussed on here before and 0 offset's will NOT work on a GSL-SE. They will work on all other FB's.

L8R

I've got 15X7 +0 Konig Rewinds (cheap Panasport knockoffs) on my GSL-SE that stick out about as far as your wheels. Just had to roll my front fenders. Of course I'll need to put on flares since I want to lower my car more than an inch, but at stock ride height and up to an inch lower +0 offset fits fine.

OK guys, hopefully this will help someone out. I know I was doing back-flips when I tried these wheels on as they seem to fit exactly how I wanted in the back. This wheel is 16x8 +26. The outer edge of the wheel sticks out just a tad past the fender, I mean barely, so the tire should be in just a tad from there. After I roll my fenders, and use a slightly stretched tire, I am pretty sure these will work without rubbing. I'll see how many pics I can fit in this post, then I'll post more pics in the next.

16x8 +26
