What is the lowest carb linkage cable?

You know the one down by the shutter valve and idle adjustment screw? Mine keeps falling off? Doesn't seem to affect drivability much? It would be nice to know what it is, and why the hell it keeps unhooking itself though??

I think your talking about the hot start assist cable and linkage. Is the cable and motor still there? You can remove the motor and cable, and then tie the linkage to the bracket so its up and out of the way. Other wise it can hang up if it drags on the manifold.

For some reason I thought it was the cruise control, with the other end being a servo motor? Is that actually the hot start assist? Where is the cruise servo then?

If the motor is on the drivers side strut tower (LHD) then its the hot start assist. The CC servo is on the pax side mounted on the firewall by the windsheild washer tank.

Cruise servo is located on the top of the firewall, near the right hand side.

Hmm, okay. The car has no problem starting hot with it disconnected? WTH is it for then?? People who're used to FI, and don't give the car a little gas while starting? lol! Which my wife still does on my 98 F150. I need to tell her that's not good. She starts it with the gas pedal pushed, I can tell
by the revs. So I can pass emissions and most importantly visual?? with this ugly useless thing removed?

from what I read it just applies the gas a little when the car is hot so it will start easier. I disconnected the wiring from mine and never had any problems. I would think you should still pass a visual inspection without it, most cars wouldn't even have them. and it should have absolutely nothing to do with emissions
