What grease/thermal compound to use with ignitors?

Put in 2nd gen coil, but didn't use the resistor. Couldn't fit the housing in. Had limited space due to power steering piping, so I just fabricated a bracket to mount the coil in using stock holes (usually prefer not to drill new holes), and hooked it up. Runs fine. Checked the ignitors, and they don't seem to be too hot, but I want to play it safe and cool them the best I can. I'm guessing whatever grease/compound they were mounted with has probably lost any effectiveness, so I want to reapply that stuff.

What would I use? What's the goal here? Isolate electricity and avoid spark, or just even heat transfer?

Thanks.

Any type of thermal paste designed for use on a computer CPU will work fine. Personally, I use Artic Silver, since I happen to have a large tube of it here.
The real "trick" here, is make sure you clean both the back of the ignitor and the mounting surface on the dizzy (or other mount if using the DLIDFIS). The shinier the surfaces, the better the heat will transfer.

Gotcha. I might have some Arctic Silver left over from some old computer assemblies.

This could be why I go through ignitors like a fat kid with candy.

If you are going thru ignitors quite regularly, I'd suggest testing the pickups in the dizzy. Granted, the ignitors are rather old, but repeated failures should tell you there is something causing the failures.
